Community Editor for Flipped Chemistry

I have been named a community editor for the MacMillan Flipped Chemistry Community. If you have flipped your chemistry class, are interested in flipping, or just curious, then you owe it to yourself to check out Flipped Chemistry. It is a community of chemistry educators using flipped classrooms and related techniques to teach chemistry. You can find blog posts, classroom materials, and much thoughtful consideration of what works and what doesn’t in the chemistry classroom. My duties as an community editor will be to contribute material and recruit others to contribute. I invite you along for the fun!

Flipped Chemistry Community

We are a community of higher-ed chemistry educators incorporating flipped, blended, and other active-learning techniques into our classrooms. The idea behind this site is to share ideas, tools and resources. Whether you are new to active learning or looking to refine your current practices, I invite you to explore the stories and ideas in the blog, and to make use of the curated videos and activities located in the Tools and Resources section. And if you are interested in sharing your own practices or resources, please feel free to contact me – I’d love to hear from you! – Kevin Revel, Featured Author and Editor

Community Editors

The current community editors for Flipped Chemistry are:

  • Kevin Revel – Assistant Dean and Associate Professor of Chemistry, Murray State University
  • Katherine (Kate) Hayden – Assistant Professor of Chemistry, Birmingham-Southern College
  • Brandon Tenn – Professor of Chemistry and Mathematics, Merced College
  • John Osterhout – Professor and Chair, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Angelo State University

Our mission is to provide content and encourage others to develop materials for the site. My next responsibility is for November and December. I will be soliciting articles for these months.

If you have an idea for a post, please contact me here at JohnOsterhout<at>JohnOsterhout<dot>com or at ASU, john.osterhout<at>angelo.edu.

Disclosure: I am being paid a small amount by Macmillan for my efforts. The amount is enough to buy me a good beer two days out of three, so I’m not exactly getting rich off of this.
