I visited Atlanta in January, 2020 and had two days to devote to photography. Last week I posted some pinhole photography from the Atlanta Botanical Garden. This week I’m showing some photos from outside The High Museum of Art.
Audience of One
I found this piano and chair in an outside corridor. The concert is about to begin. Have your ticket ready. Seating is limited.
Rainy Day Plaza
I was getting ready to shoot the reflections from the wet sidewalk when this office worker came out of the museum and started across the plaza. I got off a few shots as she crossed. I like this one best.
Head in the Clouds
In case you hadn’t noticed, it was a gray and rainy day in Atlanta. The low-hanging clouds obscured the top of this building giving a moody aspect to this scene.
Chairs and American House III
I liked the look of these green chairs against the wet ground. Then I spotted House III by Roy Lichtenstein in the background. House III was featured in an earlier post, Five More Frames from the High. House III looks three-dimensional but it is actually two flat panels set at an angle. It looks like a house from several angles, but if you get up close you can spot the deception. I took a shot from the end of one of the flat panels. I’ll feature it in a later post.
Chairs and Tables
The silver chairs and tables shining against the wet ground caught my eye. The red chairs accent the silver. I was all set. Then the tree jumped in. Snap!
Bonus Frame
I confess, this scene isn’t near the High Museum. It’s from the mall near out hotel. I caught this light one evening late, standing guard by the escalator in an almost-deserted mall near our hotel.
These photos were made with a Canon 6DII wearing a Canon 24-70mm zoom lens. The photos were processed from RAW files using Darktable, free software available for Windoze, Mac, and Linux.
I like the bonus frame best believe it or not. Suitable for framing
I think my favorite is “Head in the Clouds”, but I liked the bonus frame a lot as well.
